Healthy and happy living requires the ability to live and deal with some level of stress on a daily basis. Our emotional wellbeing is tied into everything we do, including diet, exercise, sleep, work, relationships and relaxation.
It is reported that between 70 and 80% of all medical visits are for stress related illnesses.
Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine can be very helpful in the treatment of emotional distress. Equally as important, acupuncture alleviates the symptoms of stress: insomnia, anxiety, palpitations, fatigue, weight gain, hair loss, depression, decreased libido, worry, anger and chronic pain.
One interesting study showed that mothers, who received acupuncture for the treatment of stress prior to their child having surgery, had a significant decrease in anxiety. In addition, there was corresponding drop in their child's anxiety, even though the children did not have acupuncture.

For many patients the best part of any acupuncture treatment can be the sense of relaxation and wellbeing they feel after a treatment, regardless of their chief complaint.
