Why are we offering a BIPOC Scholarship for our Pilates Teacher Training Program?
We firmly believe that we cannot achieve our mission to “empower the healing wisdom of the body in a safe and inclusive space through movement-based practices and bodywork” if we:
- Do not confront and push back against Western ideologies about what healthy bodies look like, the high and often financially inaccessible costs for Pilates training and certification, and the barriers imposed by the prerequisites needed to apply for many Pilates training programs.
- Refuse to confront the racism, colonialism, ableism, and white supremacy culture that are inherent in the transmission and training processes for many codified movement practices in the United States.
We recognize that while scholarships provide both access and an invitation, they are not a solution; engagement, accountability, and equitable power distribution are solutions.
At InsideOut Body Therapies, we are committed to ongoing capacity building as it relates to our efforts to better serve our local community. We value your input and feedback – please email us at Mi****@in********************.com to let us know what’s going well, what could use improvement, and how you’d like to see us continue pursuing this commitment in the future.
